*So much fun*

We found this huge crab today we didn't even know about...
We cleaned windows again... AGAIN! *so much fun*

We cleaned Komodo dragon puke from the floor... *so much fun*

We got to feed the rays and watch the feeding of sharks *so much fun*

The thought bubbles at work today would have looked something like this; ?????????

We totally missed the Sea lion shows and the seals and the... We totally missed last week!

Worked today with Ring-a-ding... She "speaks" English ( meaning that she doesn't really speak at all to us ), but at last we got to do things... *so much fun*

After work we got some ice cream from "Rapunzels tower" ( awesome ice cream they have! ) and walked in a thunder storm ( a real "storm"! We could hear thunder way in the distance and there was a few drops of rain ). *so much fun*

We watched this hypnotizing wall for a long time today *so much fun*

Torture

So... This week aquariums...

In the morning, messing around at the office. Shortly after that, we were separated by a grave misfortune.

So, the less misfortunate one got to feed fish and treat fish, and check on fish... ( YAY! not... ). However, there was something "interesting" about today; we tried to fish out coins from the piranha pool ( with no success ).

The Piranha

The more misfortunate one got to sit in the hotel room and rot all day long ( because of her old enemy, the kneecap )... How fun...

And in the midst of all this "not-so-niceness" there was one thing that brought us back from the gates of hell! HAWAII-CHICKEN!!

Bittersweet

Amika

Today was the last day with our dear new friends ;(

The new group of trainers consisted of the "Feather Friend" and "Ms. Animal Lover" ( who spoke English very well *Happy*).

This week has definitely been one of our favorites here :)

"I can't reach it... Too... Far..."

It was Kötes!! The name of the ferret we talked about yesterday was Kötes. Adorable little dude <3 He was very much in love with Mr. Nicknames hairy hand yesterday, he never wanted to let go ( he bit his hand ). Today we caught him in this perfectly cute pose!

We were smart enough to get this video of Leon our favorite Sea Lion performing in the Show:

We performed our last tasks ( feeding the Seals ) with bitter-sweetness, we miss those guys already <3

The reaction

Annoying peacock
So, as you can guess, the day started with a great reaction... We went to work this morning, as usual and greeted Mr. Nickname as follows; "Morning!" *big smiles* ( nothing great about that, no... ). When he turned around and saw us, his face was worth seeing and the first words out of his mouth were "Oh no! You again?!" ( he totally missed us when we were gone, don't you think? ) x)

Something special about the day: we cleaned the ferret cage thoroughly. The Ferrets name in English means knot ( because it's so flexible ), but we can't remember the name itself ( we'll post it later on ).

Graceful face <3

We had an encounter with a free roaming peacock today. It wandered too close to the performing parrots, so we tried to shoo it away with no success. In the end we had to catch it and one of us carried it far far away... At least the visitors had fun... and the unlucky one who carried it away was haunted all day by the feeling it would come back any minute, any second as soon as you turn your back...

Then we just chopped fish... a lot of it... smelly, slimy, yucky fish... And the scent never went away... ever!

We got the chance to be part of the big finale at the parrot training show :) ( oh, we are so proud ). We did so well standing still and giving ( OUR! ) money to Nyenyó. And again, Mr. Nickname tried to steal the money for himself...

Instead of seeing the wolves this morning, we saw these "Tiger Brothers" ( Malaysian Tigers)

"Let's play catch!"

"My feathers!!!"

Böbe, Cuxha and Beni ( from left to right )
Today we didn't get to do much, because there were three trainers working today. But we had fun anyways :)

One of us had the best job in a while this morning, while the other one was feeding Cuxha ( the Harbor Seal ); Her job was petting Barack ( on the say so of Mr. Nickname ).

We got to see the shows again. And this time we saw a new trick; Leon standing on his front fins ( sorry we didn't get a picture ).
"Little Pocahontas"

We had fun at lunch time: firstly the new guy ( we call him Feather Friend ) gave us two of Morgós fallen feathers, when Mr. Nickname saw the feathers ( that were decorating one of our hair ), he called after us "Hey! My, my, my feathers!!!". We had a debate about who the feathers belonged to until he gave up out of pity. :D

The smell of fish everywhere...

Happy day ;) We got kissed <3

Secondly, we saw Peter Pan today ( finally ). Sadly, we didn't get to speak with him ( and hear his perfect English )..

We were happy watching the shows again ( you just never get tired of them ). We got to feed the Sea lions as well as the Seals today, and we cleaned the small pool area of the Sea lions ( so we actually got to do something useful ).

Today we had some kind of pea-soup at lunch, which actually tasted a lot better than the Finnish version...

So... About the kisses: We were watching the morning training of the Sea lions and in the end of it Leon gave both of us a kiss on the cheek <3 He is so adorable!

And now for some PIZZAAAAAAAA ( bye bye ! )

Yesterday

Papesz
Changes again!

This week we are working with Mr. Nickname and She, the animal trainers of the Zoo. We made many new friends yesterday; Böbe, Beni, Barack and Cuxha the Harbor Seals; Gino, Alf and Leon the Californian Sea lions; Nyenyó and Nyenyé the Bare-eyed Cockatoos; Amika the Panama Yellow-headed Amazon; Papesz the Blue-and-Yellow Macaw and Morgo the Red-and-Green Macaw ;)

Morgo

The day consisted of some cleaning, some dishes, some feeding and watching the shows and training of the parrot and Sea lions. We got some awesome pics yesterday ;)

We couldn't update the Blog yesterday, 'cause we were too busy living our lives for a chance...

Crowds

Since there were so many visitors to the zoo today, we could not do much. Yesterday there were 5 000 visitors all together, today it was 10 000 plus and the day isn't even over yet.

We did our normal morning routine ( feeding the animals and such ) but after all the necessities, we just kinda tried to hide from the crowds.

We got to see some live Hungarian comedy today ;) The workers "entertained" each other at the kitchen ( since no one had stuff to do ). We had fun even though we could not understand a word that was said.

And of course we went to see the wolves again this morning ( they're just too irresistible ).
And finally, we continue the introduction of the Sóstó Zoo kindom: This time we have the great honor of introducing his Royal Highness King George.

"Happy Zombie & Happy Crazy"

Shere Khan
And then people came and we almost suffocated while navigating the grounds so we made our great escape and met this little darling ( in photograph ). And we got to do our favorite job again; grass picking ( yay?! ).

The waking up part of the morning is always hardest... The Happy Zombie of the day never got over the tired mode ( hence the Zombie ), but the other one did thanks to the Wolves ;)

After the usual morning chores, at breakfast time, we went to see the Arctic wolves ( yet again ). The Happy Crazy of the day got her fingers licked by one ( hence the happy ). Then the grass picking happened, then the people came and no happy no more... Then the great escape happened and the Zombie went happyhappy.

Look at those paws!! Ain't they gorgeus!! <3
After once again a delicious meal at lunch time, we found Skeletor at the Monkey forest ( a new place for us ).We finally learned his real name ( on our second last day with him... ) and the Happy Crazy totally cracked ( hence the crazy ). The Skeletor doesn't know we call him that so... You can imagine why she cracked ( or not ). The Crazy could not stop laughing ( so the crazy-reputation is guaranteed ) and the Zombie had to explain to Skeletor that it was totally normal; nothing to worry about. "Are you okay"? "I'm fine *crack*"

The day ended without further incidents worth mentioning...
And this is Abis Mal.

Free Days 3.0

Our spoils so far
Yesterday we went on a shopping spree; girl style. We left for town around 11 am and came back around 4 pm. This time it was really worth the trip, judging from the amount of stuff we came back with... We really circled around looking for cool shops to visit ;) And of course we had to have some ice-cream ( We still can't believe how cheap it is here ).

The day was perfect! Nice and warm and sunny ( up to 27 degrees Celsius ). We still were dump enough to ignore that first instinct to leave our jackets back at the hotel... It looked so cloudy in the morning...

On our way back to the hotel, of course we had to stop by the Irish Pub Restaurant for some excellent food!

Dotty insanity at the hotel

Today we had some difficulty getting out of bed... We finally managed to write almost all our post-cards that we got last Thursday from the Zoo ( 24 of them all together ). When we at last got our laundry in the washing machine ( apparently others wanted to wash things too ) we went out to enjoy the good weather and fresh air.

Found an awsome tree

Mushed feet

Today was slightly different than the other days;

It was cold and then it wasn't we started to count our blessings.

He worried about our shoes in the bat cave, he was clumsy all day.

One of us dropped a banana, the other almost panicked.

We made rounds of nine and seven, the snake-necked turtle posed for the camera.

We didn't gather any grass, but something terrible happened and there was many bugs.

A cockroach tried to kill us and the Monitors fought ferociously.

We finally got some post cards and the sick "mystery-lizard" kicked the bucket.

Our feet kinda died, but the cacao was good.

We washed big turtles ( who didn't like us ), "Smile, you're in Candid Camera!".

Random.

Skeletor

"Thank you" and "Sorry" are the two things we hear from Skeletor most often... He's a gentleman, always opening doors for us and carrying everything ( so we "the weak and fragile ladys" won't have to ). Don't judge the book by it's cover is perfectly said about him!

"The hand of God" ;P
Today was pretty much the same as yesterday for us. For Skeletor, it was his first day on the job by himself ( plus two bothersome trainees hanging on his back ); not easy! So at the end of the day he was like "sorry I didn't talk to you much today, it was my first day alone and I was trying to remember all my jobs", even though he talks to us more than anyone else so far.

"Busted!"

Little facts about today:
1) Differences to yesterday: we fed the bats <3, the guinea pigs, little monkeys in the bird house and the frogs and caimans in the "reptile nursery".
2) The thing to remember while picking grass today was "don't get too close to the kangaroo" XD
3) We had "desert soup" at lunch today; tasted like apple-pie ( it had apples and cinnamon and everything ), only it was soup...

New beginning

And so begins our week with the reptiles! A welcome change after the noisy birds…

First things first; we started work this morning with HuomentaMoi-Guy. Then he shoved us with the Skeletor; at least he spoke English better than HuomentaMoi-Guy ( “only small English” )…

We started with transferring some turtles to a new habitat under some birds and we covered them with some hay ( for some unknown reason ). Then we went to gather some grass and stuff for the vegetarian reptiles and distributed them around the zoo.

We discovered a new place; Skeletor called it “Reptile nursery”. There were lots of different baby reptiles ( little turtles and caimans etc. ). One of us got to hold a baby Boa snake ( unbelievably adorable ).

After the distribution of the grass and stuff, we watered the reptiles in the Green Pyramid ( which has nothing to do with a pyramid, by the way ). The Green Pyramid has kind of a rainforest climate inside, it holds reptiles, birds, squirrels, rats, ocean life etc. It also has a large variety of different plants.

After lunch we cleaned windows both outdoors and in… There were so many windows! Turtle enclosure outdoors (both inside and out)and indoors the Anaconda terrarium, the Boa terrarium, the Crocodile cage, the turtles enclosures ( two of them ) and two lizard terrariums. But we didn’t get to go inside the Anaconda terrarium ;(

When we finally got all the windows done, we returned to the Green pyramid to write down the temperatures of different reptile terrariums and watch the vet assistant treat a sick lizard ( we’ll have to check what it was later on ).

At the end of the workday, we got some hot chocolate ( yummy! ) from the coffee machine and took some pics at the Green Pyramid.

"Chick Man"

Stork
The layout of the day was pretty much the same as yesterday, except we did it all with Chick Man instead of Birdie Guy. The chores seemed to get done much quicker than with Birdie Guy though...

These last few days we've noticed this habit that the guys here in the zoo seem to have: they simply must shake hands every ( damn ) time they meet ( or pass ) each other. If the hands aren't free, they grab the others wrist. This is a bit odd for a Finn...

In the afternoon we cleaned leafs out of a stork enclosure and got to hotel just before it started raining heavily.

We'd love to know your thoughts about our blog so we can get better at writing this thing, so please leave comments; both brickbats and bouquets are welcome!

So, this was ( hopefully ) our last day of birdiedom ;)

Don Mafioso

And lastly, we'd like to introduce you to the "Zoo Kingdom" and it's residents bit by bit; here is the Mafia Family.

Sunday = Delicious food day

So, birdies again ;)

The day started with egg-hunting; "big ones, small ones, some as big as your head diididii".

At breakfast time we always have a little time to wander around, so today we heard this lovely sound "calling us":

Who can say they have better sounds in their day?

We got to see the hidden Sumatra Tiger and the new member of the Zoo family ( arrived today ) a little Dingo. Totally adorable, poor thing... Everything was so new and scary to her ( or him? )... ;(

Ain't she (he?) adorable?!
Today we went a different route than before ( every day is different with the birdie guy ). The birdie guy was trying to hide from us ( he'd forgotten to wait for us he says ) in the morning, but we found him... we will always find him ( muahhahhaa )...

Today was mostly about feeding everyone ( and we mean EVERYONE )... The predatory birds, the quarantine birds, the water birds and the annoyingly loud ones ( parrots and such ).

Free days 2.0

So, a bit of loading batteries ( sleeping late ), a bit of creeping around the neighborhood and pizza from an Italian restaurant and delicious food from the Irish Pub again ;) Then a bit of watching Sinbad tv-series ( the whole first season of it ).
Lots of people in the running event

Today as we crept around again, we heard some music and someone speaking into a microphone so we decided to check it out; the catholic church had organized some kind of running contest in the park. Lot of people and a more relaxed mood than in any church event back home. For example, the music was actually quite good ( instead of some hymns or something ).

Nice house we came across while creeping around

The weather was so nice we simply couldn't stay indoors all day... So we got to see some gorgeous houses and scenery ( definitely more interesting than
back home ).

Ain't it nice and springy out here!
